Frequently Asked Questions.
Will therapy help me?
Therapy can be beneficial in a wide variety of ways. It can help you get in contact with what is most important to you while guiding you in the right direction. Therapists can give you tools to manage barriers that may be getting in your way of living the life you want to life. Therapy can provide you with necessary skills to help you manage anxiety, depression and everyday stressors. Working with a therapist can help you discover healthier ways of communicating, while also strengthening your self-esteem and overall confidence. The benefits someone gains from therapy depends largely on their commitment to the process and implementing the tools learned in the outside world.
How do I get started?
I offer a complimentary 15 minute phone or video consultation to discuss what you hope to get out of therapy and answer any questions you may have. You can use the contact form or email me to schedule a consultation or appointment.
What should I expect?
All sessions are virtual, meaning we can meet from the comfort of your home! Currently, I am only able to meet with clients in NY state due to licensure. Therapy sessions are 45 minutes in length. My therapeutic approach is empathic, collaborative and nonjudgmental. Each client is unique and sessions are tailored to the individual. I use a holistic framework, integrating a variety of therapeutic modalities such as CBT, compassion-focused therapy, psychodynamic, and mindfulness based practices.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. This means that I provide you with a Superbill at the end of each session to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Before our first session please contact your insurance provider directly to ask about your ‘out-of-network’ mental health benefits. I can provide you with a write-up of specific questions to ask your insurance company, which is a helpful guide for many people. Often times insurance covers a large percentage of sessions, you’d be surprised! I am more than happy to help you through this process, and completely understand that figuring out insurance coverage can be logistically confusing. Sliding scale fees can be discussed based on your income.
What is your no show/cancellation policy?
I implement a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. Clients are charged the full session fee for any session missed or not cancelled within this time frame. If you are able to reschedule within the same week at a time that works for both of us, your fee may be waived.
